Where it fits

Procore, Buildertrend & the missing answer layer

Your system of record stores, routes, and versions documents well. It still can't answer the question inside them for you. That gap — between "the document exists" and "here's the cited answer" — is where an answer layer lives.

Let's be fair to the platforms. Procore is a genuinely strong system of record for commercial work — drawing version control, automated distribution, RFI workflows that route a question from field to architect and back, submittal tracking, spec management. It shines when you're managing 200-page sets across dozens of subs. Buildertrend is excellent for field communication, daily logs, and photo documentation, especially on residential and lighter commercial jobs.

But notice what all of that is: workflow and storage. Routing, tracking, reminders, version control, linking. None of it actually answers the question. When a PM needs to know "what's the panel rating on E-2.1?", Procore will faithfully show them E-2.1 — and then a human still has to open it, find the detail, confirm it's the current revision, and read the answer off the sheet. The platform got you to the document. The 9.7 days is what happens after you've found it.

The point isn't replacement — it's the missing layer. Keep your system of record for what it's great at. Add an answer layer for the part it was never meant to do: turning "here's the document" into "here's the cited answer."

Two ways teams run it

Why a contractor built it this way

IntelMS wasn't built to compete with a system of record — it was built to remove the specific daily pain of "the document is right here and it still takes me two days to get a confident answer out of it." It answers only from your documents, cites every fact, reads the latest revision, flags conflicts, and escalates the dangerous calls to a person. Whatever platform holds your files, that's the gap it fills.

Frequently asked

Does IntelMS replace Procore or Buildertrend?

No — it complements them. They're systems of record (store, route, version, track). IntelMS is the answer layer that returns the cited answer from inside those documents.

What does the answer layer do that they don't?

They manage the RFI workflow; they don't instantly answer the document question. IntelMS returns the cited answer from the latest revision in minutes.

Can I use it with my existing software?

Yes. It works from the documents you upload, alongside any platform — or standalone for teams on email and folders.
